The development of Valley Ridge real estate began in 1992 and the community has since grown significantly to become one of Calgary’s most affluent residential housing markets. Approximately 99% of the residents here own their own homes. The community itself is on the Happy Valley Campground’s former site and the Valley Ridge Community Association was established in 1963.

The construction of homes for sale is ongoing in Valley Ridge today, primarily in the areas of Valley Brook, The Estates, and Highlands. Valley Ridge houses are being constructed by Stepper, Albi, Homexx, Shane, and Cardel with 95% of them as detached homes and the remainder as condominium units.

There is no shortage of amenities within the Valley Ridge community with its expansive green spaces and natural reserves. It is routine to see community residents fishing and canoeing in the beautiful Bow River. There is a clean biking trail and a wide sports field for residents as well.

If you love to golf you’ll appreciate the golf course here. Many of the homes in Valley Ridge back right onto the fairways. If golfing is your game you could get in a round every morning before work if you want! Valley Ridge property developer Barbican built this community around the 18-hole course on 500 acres of land. With the addition of another nine holes, Valley Ridge is becoming increasingly popular for its golf course, which is now available for tournaments.

Buyers of Valley Ridge real estate will appreciate the proximity of Crowfoot Towne Centre, which is located just off Nose Hill Drive. Here you’ll find a wide selection of restaurants, auto dealerships, a Safeway and the Montgomery shopping area. For sports enthusiasts, Valley Ridge has a soccer pitch, two ball diamonds, and a playground.

The Valley Ridge Community Association hosts a variety of events including garage sales, barbecues and live music.

Young children living in Valley Ridge can attend a number of schools including Belvedere-Parkway, St. Sylvester, and Varsity Acres Elementary School. The junior highs in the area are Thomas P. Riley, Branton, Our Lady of Assumption, and St. Madeleine d’Houet Junior High School while high school students can attend Bowness, William Aberhart, and St. Francis High School.
