The Patterson Heights and Prominence Point housing market started off as acreages. Originally known as Broadcast Hill due to an imposing transmission tower located in the area, the land was mainly owned by members of the Patterson family who lent their name to the area. The land was annexed to Calgary in 1956, but it was not until 1983 that Patterson Heights was officially established and real estate development began. Work then continued through the 90’s. In 1988, Patterson Heights was home to the Media Village of the XV Olympic Winter Games. That village has subsequently been converted and now consists of condominiums and apartments.

The condominiums converted from the Media Village of the XV Olympic Winter Games made up some of the first residences in the area. Further developments were mostly focused on single family homes, a number of townhouses and some apartment complexes. There is a fairly strong rental market in the area that amounts for about 23% of the housing. Buyers can find affordable Stanley Park townhouses and condos in Patterson Heights, while at the same time there are a number of executive detached homes that easily sell for 7 figures.

The Patterson Heights and Prominence Point neighbourhood has a lot to offer home buyers. The recently expanded Bow Trail has made Patterson Heights and Prominence Point homes for sale more popular than ever as commuting and travelling from here is easier than ever and the community is now instantly connected to the rest of the city. Downtown is only a short trip away and can be viewed from certain points along the hill by the Bow River Valley. The view overlooking the Bow River Valley is stunning and many residents spend a lot of their free time near the area.

Patterson Heights is also surrounded by and sprinkled with numerous green lands including sports pitches and outdoor recreational amenities. These green areas add a sense of tranquillity and peace to the community that you’ll immediately feel as soon as you enter the neighbourhood.

Patterson Heights shares a community association with neighbouring community Coach Hill. The CHPH Community Association community centre, located along Old Banff Coach Road, is surrounded by ample green space complete with playgrounds, soccer pitches, a baseball diamond and an outdoor skating rink. The community centre also offers numerous activities for residents of all ages including moms and tots programs, yoga, line dancing, Celtic dancing and Girl Guides. In addition, the Girl Guides work within the community to help maintain the gardens and green spaces and help with community cleanups. This mature neighbourhood with its beautiful, tree-lined streets, outdoor access, and active community centre is just the right place for families to settle.
