Cougar Ridge is a relatively new housing market located in the former East Springbank area. The neighbourhood was annexed by the City of Calgary in 1995 and the real estate here lies within walking distance of Canada Olympic Park. Construction of the residential area began in the early 2000s with developers being careful to preserve the beauty of nature and a pathway system.

With a huge variety of homes including houses and condos for sale, Cougar Ridge has something for everyone. Single family, detached homes include Colonial, Victorian and Tudor styles that are located close to amenities and abundant open, green spaces. Cougar Ridge condos in the area include a number of beautifully-planned new developments in addition to already established properties such as Olympic Village, which sits on Broadcast Hill. This new community offers homes for everybody in a wide range of sizes and styles.

Bordered by Canada Olympic Park and Paskapoo Slopes to the north, the Cougar Ridge neighborhood offers home buyers a huge selection of outdoor recreational facilities including bobsled and luge tracks, ski jumps, and a mountain bike park. Paskapoo Slopes is a significant ecological, cultural, and archeological site with a history that dates back at least 8,000 years. This area boasts abundant wildlife in the natural grasslands, forests, and ravines throughout the slopes. A lot of the area has been preserved by the Canadian Olympic Development Association.

The Cougar Ridge housing market offer prospective home buyers numerous shopping, entertainment and sporting amenities. Golf enthusiasts can take the short drive to the Valley Ridge Golf Course and the Silver Springs Golf and Country Club. For the less adventurous, shopping opportunities can be found in 2 directions. In the east you’ll find the Bowness/Montgomery area, which is comprised of smaller retail businesses. To the north is the Crowfoot Centre, which is home to the big box retailers and a multiplex theatre. In addition, a 10-screen multiplex cinema can be found in the nearby West Hills Town Centre.

Cougar Ridge is a part of the WSCR Community Association, which offers a variety of sports and volunteer opportunities.

Buyers of homes for sale in Cougar Ridge are served by a number of both public and private schools. These include the Calgary Waldorf School, Wildwood Elementary School, Vincent Massey Junior High School, and Ernest Manning High School. Separate schooling options include Bishop Carroll High School, St. Mary’s High School and St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School.
