Real estate development in McKenzie Towne began in 1995 and this makes it one of the newest markets in Calgary. It is named after one of the earliest settlers in the area, J. McKenzie. It is still being developed today and the company behind it is Carma Developers LP.

McKenzie Towne has been recognised as one of the best master-planned neighbourhoods in the whole of Canada by the Urban Land Institute. It is fully self-contained and offers charming homes with large front porches and back garages plus plenty of green spaces to create a true small-town feel. You’ll have your choice between McKenzie Towne single-family houses on the market, as well as condos and townhomes for sale. The array of home styles is incredibly wide ranging from Georgian and Victorian to Arts and Crafts and Greek Revival. There are four regions that home buyers can choose from including Inverness, Eglin, Prestwick and High Street.

Home buyers at McKenzie Towne have direct access to a variety of recreational amenities in the neighbourhood. The parks and the numerous pathways are great for relaxed walks and for biking. Children can enjoy a variety of playgrounds and a splash park. Inverness Pond and Prestwick Pond are also major attractions. The Town Hall offers a gymnasium and a banquet hall, which hosts a variety of community events organised by the local neighbourhood association.

On McKenzie Towne’s High Street you will find plenty of shops including a grocery store, boutiques and a video store. One of the reasons that properties here are so popular enjoy the fact that they can relax at the various cafes or at the pub within walking distance from home. There is a pharmacy as well. South Trail Crossing, which offers a larger number of stores including Safeway, Co-op and Walmart, is just a short ride away.

The community is home to McKenzie Towne School. The Catholic St. Albert the Great elementary and junior high school is also an option that students and parents can consider.
