Walden is one of the newest real estate markets in Calgary. Its development began back in 2008 and is still under way. It covers an area of 620 acres. The developers of Genstar place a major focus on green living with only native trees and vegetation planted around the neighbourhood. The streets are facilitated with special infiltration beds, which prevent rainwater from going directly into the nearby Bow River.

No matter what type of home you would like to live in, this community offers it. There is a wide choice of detached single-family houses with 2 or 3 bedrooms. The semi-detached homes and the townhouses with fusion architecture appeal to families, couples and young professionals. There will also be plenty of Walden condos for sale that you can pick from. Here there is something to match any lifestyle and preference.

Walden is planned to have a 160-acre park, a clear-water pond, long pathways for walking, jogging and biking and its very own golf course. The community’s pub, Windsor Rose, already offers great amenities. There is also a grocery store and coffee shop in the area.

The local area offers a variety of other great amenities as well. These include the South Fish Creek Recreation Center and Shawnessy YMCA, the Blue Devil Golf Course and the McKenzie Meadows Golf Club. Gorgeous Fish Creek Park is only a short distance away and another major attraction is Lake Sikome where you’ll find a great beach and fantastic opportunities for swimming in the summer.

There is a wide choice of schools in the local area. The elementary schools include Woodbine, St. Sebastian, Sundance and Mother Teresa and the latter two offer French Immersion programs. Parents and students can choose from several junior high schools including Woodman, Father James Whelihan, Ecole St. Matthew and Fairview. Again, the last two offer French Immersion. Both senior high schools in the area, Bishop O’Byrne and Sr. E.P. Scarlet, offer the French programs as well.
