The area where the Queensland real estate market is today became a part of the City of Calgary in 1961. The development of the present-day residential community began 12 years later in 1973. Currently, it is one of the largest neighbourhoods in the southeast quadrant of the city.

Most of the Queensland homes for sale are detached houses of all shapes and sizes and they are ideal for families and couples. As a truly suburban neighbourhood, this community has semi-detached houses and townhouses as well. The reasonable home prices, the comfortable lifestyle and the great location are among the major factors attracting future residents. With real estate located right across from the nearby Maple Ridge golf course, this is a highly desirable community.

There are plenty of shopping amenities for the residents of Queensland ranging from Southcentre Mall and the South Centre Shopping Centre to the big-box stores on Macleod Trail. There are lots of great restaurants, coffee shops and cinemas in the local area as well.

Home buyers in Queensland have quick access to the rest of the city via both private and public transport. If you travel by car, Anderson Road and Deerfoot Trail will take you to any point in the city. There are also three LRT stations less than 5 km from the community. Via LRT, downtown Calgary can be reached in approximately 20 minutes.

Fish Creek Park is right next door and home buyers can enjoy all of its amenities whenever they like. These include long pathways set amidst beautiful meadows and forests with tall trees. Biking, walking and fishing in Bow River are among the major recreational activities enjoyed by locals. The park’s Sikome Lake has a great beach and offers plenty of water fun in the summer. Various recreational activities are offered by the local community centre as well.

The Queensland/Diamond Cove Community Association provides various neighbourhood activities for residents.

There are three public schools serving the community. The parents of young students purchasing a home in Queensland can select from Haultain Memorial Elementary, and Queensland Downs Elementary. Wilma Hansen Junior High School is also renowned for providing a high-quality education.
