With a population of more than 7,000, Midnapore boasts around 2,500 properties, and just over half of these consist of single-family detached homes. The rest are split between apartments, condominiums, semi-detached properties and townhouses. Roughly 25% of all the houses in Midnapore are rental properties, with the majority of those renters taking up a large chunk of the apartments in the area.

Although the Midnapore housing market was annexed to the city in 1961, it was not officially established and real estate development didn’t begin until 1977. The community association, in conjunction with town planners, decided to construct a man-made lake and build the community around it. The plan worked brilliantly and one of the biggest selling points of many of the Midnapore homes for sale is the fact that they are lakeside properties.

While Midnapore was designed to be built around the man-made lake, many of the properties have the added bonus of being sandwiched between Midnapore Lake and Fish Creek Provincial Park. Fish Creek is quite literally on the border of Midnapore, and is a wonderful amenity for home buyers. The lake in Midnapore offers a wide selection of water sports and has become a great method of fostering community spirit by bringing residents together in one place.

Shoppers in Midnapore do not need to travel far to access a number of shopping options and malls in the surrounding area. Midnapore has a number of direct public transportation services connecting it to the surrounding areas. The community offers residents all of the benefits of living in a summer style home, while still having direct access to the rest of the city.

Midnapore is part of the Mid-Sun Community Association which also serves the nearby community of Sundance.

There are also several schools for parents to choose from when they purchase a home here. These include Midnapore School, Fish Creek School, Our Lady of Peace School and Lord Beaverbrook High School, but this list is not exhaustive.
