In 1956, the community now known as Maple Ridge was annexed to the city of Calgary, along with the neighbouring Willow Park area. Unlike some communities established around this time, housing market development of Maple Ridge was slow to get started, with much of the work focusing on the commercial and the recreational usage of the land. Today, Maple Ridge has almost 2,000 residents that call Maple Ridge home.

Maple Ridge homes have been designed to reflect its location — the golf course, and as such the only properties for sale in the area are single-family detached properties. In turn, this has the additional effect of reducing any potential rental market in Maple Ridge, which currently stands at just over 6%. Homes for sale in Maple Ridge are beautiful in design and well-made, and some of these properties command a considerable sum.

For outdoor enthusiasts buying a home here, there are a number of amenities. Fish Creek Provincial Park is an excellent day out while there are also a number of nearby parks that offer hiking trails and walkways to follow. It would be remiss to discuss Maple Ridge without mentioning the wonderful golf course that shares the land with Maple Ridge — making the area a golfer’s dream.

Shoppers are well looked after in Maple Ridge. The Southcentre Mall is a short walk away from most residents’ homes, while the Willow Park Shopping Plaza is just next door in neighbouring Willow Park. Additionally, the Shawnessy shopping centre and Chinook Mall are not far away and are easy to get to thanks to the major bus and LRT routes that surround Maple Ridge.

Maple Ridge is part of the Willow Ridge Community Association, which also serves the neighbouring community of Willow Park.

Families who purchase a home in Maple Ridge will find a number of schools in the immediate and surrounding area that are popular amongst residents. These include Maple Ridge School, Wilma Hansen Junior High School, Willow Park School and Lord Beaverbrook High School. These all come with excellent reputations, and their close proximity and easy access means that Maple Ridge is a great place to raise a family.
