Diamond Cove became a part of the city in 1961. Housing market development in this community began in 1989, some 16 years later after the construction of neighbouring Queensland. It was formally recognised in 1991.

The majority of Diamond Cove homes for sale (about 75%), are detached single-family houses. Buyers can expect to find plenty of upscale homes which have a wide variety of functional modern amenities to offer. Another attraction of the houses in the community is the gorgeous view over Bow River which is actually priceless. The remainder of the homes for sale are made up of condominiums and apartments, which appeal to both young professionals and couples.

Home buyers in the community can enjoy many different recreational amenities. There is a great choice of sports fields, skating rinks and tennis courts and the large Diamond Cove community centre has a gym and a BBQ area.

Undoubtedly, the major recreational facility for the neighbourhood is Fish Creek Park. It offers a variety of activities with the most popular ones being walking and hiking and biking. The park is popular with bird watchers as well. The vast grasslands and the small forests are ideal for relaxation. In the summer, Lake Sikome is the ideal place for water fun. There are many shops and grocery stores in the local area and residents can choose from an array of shopping centres which are close to home.

There is a wide range of schools in the local area for families buying a home in Diamond Cove. The elementary schools include Queensland Elementary, Lake Bonavista Elementary and Haultain Memorial. The choice of junior high schools is between Wilma Hansen and R.T. Alderman. There are two major high schools in the area: Lord Beaverbrook and Henry Wise Wood.
