The name “Canyon Meadows” was chosen due to its location on a rolling plane, right above the Fish Creek Park bluffs. Calgary annexed the area back in 1961 and 2 years later, in 1963, the real estate housing market development officially started. Throughout the 1960’s, Canyon Meadows Estates was built up and included dozens of roundabouts and cul-de-sacs.

This neighbourhood is bordered by Macleod Trail on the east, Anderson Road on the north and 14 Street on the west. It rests on a rolling plain right above the bluffs at Fish Creek Park. Canyon Meadows in SW Calgary is one of the most exciting and dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. It is located right above Fish Creek Park and the community offers a wide choice of fun activities to residents.

Canyon Meadows homes include a variety of single-family houses, townhouses and condos. The homes for sale here are reasonably priced and for the most part affordable. You’ll find a variety of housing styles that include townhouses, condos and single-family detached homes along tree-lined streets. When you drive through the community you’ll probably notice that the houses are spaced quite far apart and that the area is quite spacious.

When you purchase a home in Canyon Meadows, you can fish, hike, ride your bike and enjoy the community pool and other amenities. There are both separate and public schools here, including Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School, and Fish Creek Provincial Park and Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club are within walking distance. Real estate near this golf course can be in high demand. All year-long the Canyon Meadows Pool & Fitness Centre remains open.

The Canyon Meadows community centre is one feature of the neighbourhood that home buyers find very appealing. It hosts a variety of different programs, such as Kumon math, dance classes, Tai Chi, Yoga, dog classes, Jazzercise, Brownies, Moms and tots and Seniors Bridge. The community centre also has 2 skating rinks, with one paved to allow inline skating in the summer. There are also basketball nets, playing fields and skateboard ramp benches.

For entertainment you can head to the South Center shopping mall or the Shaughnessy shopping area to get your shopping done. This is a single and multi-family home community that always has a number of activities to enjoy. If you are looking for a vibrant community that isn’t far from shopping areas or hiking trails, this is a great place to live.

The Canyon Meadows Community Association offers a variety of volunteer and social activities.

Schools servicing the local area include Canyon Meadows Elementary, Dr. E. P. Scarlett Senior High, Robert Warren Junior High and St. Catherine Elementary.
