The development real estate in the Varsity Acres market is part of the Varsity greater community began in the 1960’s and 1970’s with mostly single-family houses. Varsity Acres is a popular community due in part to its convenient location. It is only a few minutes away from schools, shopping malls, parks, recreational areas, and major routes.

The Varsity area was so-named because of its location on the hills that overlook the Bow River Valley, which is just northwest of the UC. Real estate in the Varsity neighbourhood can be found with the boundaries of Crowchild Trail to the east and north, 32 Avenue NW to the south, and the Bow River to the west. Varsity’s original access when coming from the east was through Varsity Drive, which had an intersection at Brisebois Drive and Crowchild Trail. This was later closed and replaced with a 40 Avenue connection.

Today, clusters of low-rise apartment-style condominium units can be seen west of Market Mall along Varsity Drive’s winding road. Many of the Varsity Acres single-family homes have rear lanes, which were designed to offer pedestrians safe passage routes through the neighbourhood.

Properties for sale in Varsity Acres are close to local parks, the UC, malls, Alberta Children’s Hospital, and Bowmont Park Natural Area. The Varsity Community Association offers residents a wide range of activities and events and provides a number of sporting facilities including tennis courts, hockey rinks, sports fields and outdoor skating rinks.

Home buyers in Varsity Acres can shop for groceries, drop off their tots at any of several child care centres, read books either in bookstores or at the Calgary Public Library, have a cup of coffee at any of the cafes in the area, take lessons in Tae Kwon Do or fencing or got to a movie at one of the nearby cinemas. The choice is yours when you live here and you’ll always have plenty of local options to choose from.

For families buying real estate in Varsity Acres, schools are conveniently located in and around the community. Elementary schools include Varsity Acres, St. Luke, Marion Carson, and St. Vincent de Paul. Junior high schools include Branton, St. Vincent de Paul, F.E. Osborne, and Madeleine d’Houet while the senior high schools found here are St. Francis, William Aberhart, and Sir Winston Churchill.
