The Vista Heights neighborhood, which is known as Crossroads, was annexed to Calgary over a hundred years ago in 1910. Real estate development in Vista Heights began more than fifty years later in 1962.

Most Vista Heights homes for sale are single-family houses. There is also a variety of detached homes and townhouses to choose from. They come in different styles, designs and layouts. The number of condos for sale is considerably fewer but there are usually some interesting ones available on the listings.

As an inner city community, Vista Heights offers quick access to a large variety of recreational amenities. Airways Park is within the boundaries of the neighbourhood and the McCall Lake Golf Course is right across 32 Avenue. Bottomlands Park, which is home to the TELUS Spark science museum and the Calgary Zoo are just a short ride away.

The Crossroads Community Association covers this neighbourhood plus Mayland Heights and Belfast. It organises a wide range of programs for children and adults living in Vista Heights including preschool, Boy Scouts and Girl Guides. Other highly popular programs include crafts, babysitting, soccer and a Blockwatch program. The Fifty Plus Club organizes various activities from dinner theatres to tours. There are many other special events held year-round such as the annual Stampede Breakfast.

The local area offers plenty of shopping opportunities for the residents of Vista Heights. Sunridge Mall is just minutes away and further down 36 Street there is a large shopping area that features shops, restaurants, Marlborough Mall and an IKEA. The city downtown core’s shopping and recreational facilities are also easily accessible.

The neighbourhood is home to Vista Heights Elementary School. In addition to this public school, families buying a home in the area will be interested to know that there are also two private schools, including the Renfrew Educational Services school and the German Canadian Club language school. The local area has a range of other options including public Belfast Elementary, Mayland Heights Bilingual Elementary, Sir John Franklin Junior High and separate St. Clement Elementary.
