Real estate in the Tradable area was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1961 and the neighbourhood was established over two decades later in 1984. Taradale remains a low-density residential neighbourhood with opportunities for further development.

There are homes for every budget and lifestyle in the vibrant suburban community of Taradale. Most of the Taradale homes for sale are single-family detached houses. Buyers can select from starter homes and move-up ones as well. The neighbourhood also offers some upscale estates. Here you can also find a diverse choice of condos for sale and most are on a lower pricing scale than many other condominiums in Calgary. The home ownership rate in the community is nearly 90%.

The Taradale Community Association offers a variety of programs and amenities for residents. Both ponds in the community are surrounded by recreational pathways for walking, jogging and running. Taralake, which is in the northeast part of the neighbourhood, offers beach volley facilities and beautiful Tarington Woods Park is also within walking distance of the homes.

The local area offers a wide variety of recreational facilities with Prairie Winds Park in close proximity to homes in Taradale. It has an outdoor skating rink and a toboggan hill, which operate during the winter and a wading pool that home owners can enjoy in the summer. There is a YMCA centre right next to the community offering a variety of programs and classes for children and adults. There will be a new joint-use park in the area that will feature soccer fields, basketball courts, baseball diamonds and a hockey rink. There are supermarkets, professional services, restaurants and cafes around Saddletowne Circle, which is next to the northwest edge of Taradale. The McNight Village shopping area is a short ride away from the neighbourhood and offers residents more options.

Home buyers in Taradale will be happy to find that the community is home to two elementary schools, including Taradale School and Our Lady of Fatima. Older students can study at the newly-constructed Ted Harrison Middle School.
