The charm of the MacEwan Glen housing market can be attributed to its age. The neighbourhood was founded in 1982 and real estate development began shortly after, making MacEwan Glen older than many other nearby neighbourhoods. It was named in honor of John Walter Grant MacEwan, who served the public as mayor of Calgary and Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.

Most of the properties for sale in MacEwan Glen are single-family homes, and they are typically reasonably-priced. More than 90% of the homes are occupied by their owners, and styles include split-levels, bungalows and two-storey houses. The rest of the housing options include condominiums, townhouses, and duplexes. MacEwan Glen has about 1,800 homes within its borders, while the population ranges from 5,100 to 5,400 people.

Today, Country Hills Blvd defines the northern boundaries of the MacEwan Glen neighbourhood, with Beddington Trails Blvd to the east. To the south lies Nose Hill Park and Berkshire Boulevard, while the Shaganappi Trail defines the western boundaries.

Amenities for MacEwan Glen real estate include green areas, offering relaxing places for many families, where games and sports are very popular. There are a lot of green spaces in the area, especially when you consider the proximity of Nose Hill Park and the way the land is used for agriculture and grazing in the north.

If you prefer to shop as a way to relax, there is easy access to Beddington Shopping Centre from the community. Other shopping centres are also nearby and they include the Creekside Shopping Centre, the Northland Village Shopping Centre, Beacon Hill Mall and many others. Commuters can use bus routes 46 and 64 to get into the city.

Other recreational programs include the Boy Scouts and Girl Guides, which are managed by the Sandstone MacEwan Community Association. Residents also get to enjoy a great many parks here. The list of parks includes Hawkcliff Park, Hidden Ranch Park, Crowfoot Park and many more.

Families buying homes in the MacEwan Glen community will find there are plenty of schools servicing the neighbourhood including a local high school, several junior high schools, and a few elementary schools.
