Renfrew has a rich history. The development of the modern neighbourhood began in the 1940’s and many of the homes were built for veterans and their families. Its borders include the Trans-Canada Highway in the north, Deerfoot Trail in the east, the Bridgeland community in the south and Edmonton Trail in the west. The city core can be reached directly via Edmonton Trail.

Shopping amenities are abundant within and around Renfrew/Regal Terrace. In the community’s western section there are several convenience stores, most of which are housed in historic buildings. Stanley Jones Grocery, for instance, is one of the oldest structures in the local area.

Edmonton Trail and Centre Street offer a wide variety of shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Another major shopping area in the area is along 16 Avenue. Calgary’s core with its fine shops, big malls and fancy restaurants is just 3 kilometres away from the neighbourhood. It can be reached on foot as well via private and public transport. If you want to live close to the action in downtown Calgary the neighbourhood of Renfrew/Regal Terrace may be just the place to call home.

Parents buying homes in Renfrew and Regal Terrace homes will be happy to find that there are schools for students of various ages in the district. Stanley Jones Elementary is for the youngest students along with St. Alphonsus Elementary and Junior High School. Colonel Macleod Junior High is for students in grades 7-9.
