Point McKay Housing Market
The Point McKay real estate housing market was part of Montgomery when it was established in 1911. It eventually became part of northwest Calgary when the City annexed the area in 1963. Today, the neighborhood is defined by Bowness Road to the north, 37 Street to the east, and the Bow River to the south and west.
About 3 out of 4 Point McKay homes are owned by the people that occupy them, while the rest are rented out. Most of the homes are generally apartment-style condo units and townhouses, although there are a few available semi-detached single-family houses for sale or rent as well. In general, the housing options in Point McKay are very affordable.
One of the reasons why people love living in Point McKay neighbourhood properties is the ease of commuting to the downtown area. Within a 3-kilometer radius residents can find the Westbrook, Banff Trail and 45th Street LRT stations, and these transportation options can take you into the downtown area in about half an hour.

That doesn’t mean, however, that Point McKay residents need to go that far for all their shopping and recreational needs. Market Mall is just a few minutes away, and its many shops and stores offer a wide variety of goods and services. In addition, Chinook and Cross Iron Outlet Malls are also quite nearby and they offer even more shopping choices.
Point McKay also offers wide open green spaces for city dwellers. With the Bow River on its borders, the neighbourhood gives you the chance to stroll, jog, or run through the many trails.
The Edworthy and Shouldice Parks are also just minutes away from this community and here Point McKay home owners can relax and enjoy the warm weather with the whole family. Edworthy Park has a gazebo, numerous picnic sites, and a playground for children. Shouldice Park also offers a nearby playground with a distinctly creative design that most parents and youngsters find unique and fun.
