Mount Pleasant is one of the oldest housing markets in northwest Calgary, since it was annexed by the city in 1910. Real estate development began soon afterwards and construction in the area has been at a very steady pace ever since. As of last count, about 5,000 residents call Mount Pleasant their home.

The current boundaries of the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood are defined by Confederation Park and 32 Avenue to the north, and 2 Street to the east. The south is bordered by 16 Street and the TransCanada Highway, and 10 Street defines the western border.

Most of the homes for sale in Mount Pleasant are single-family resale houses but many are luxurious new construction homes. Some of the older properties are being transformed into newer homes and potential residents can also choose from a few duplexes, townhouses, and units in apartment-condo complexes. There are still a few older homes in the neighbourhood, but they are steadily being replaced.

Within the borders of the Mount Pleasant community, residents can enjoy numerous recreational facilities and amenities. There’s a very popular playground, plus a nearby community hall, Sportsplex and community swimming pool. The community hall offers programs such as children’s workshops and dance and exercise classes, while the Sportsplex offers hockey and ice skating.

Mount Pleasant boasts the amazing Confederation Park and residents can easily access other recreational areas and parks as well in neighbouring communities. Crescent Park itself offers more than 160 acres of fun, with its various playing fields for different sports, indoor and outdoor hockey rinks, and outdoor swimming pool.

The Trans-Canada Highway is your gateway to numerous shops and restaurants. Head west to 16 Avenue NW and you will find North Hill Mall, Home Depot, Banff Trail Business Park, and McMahon Stadium. Even Market Mall can be reached within 10 minutes of driving. You can also go east to 16 Avenue NW to find even more shops that are only a short drive away.

The Mount Pleasant Community Association offers a variety of sports and recreation services.

Families buying property in Mount Pleasant will appreciate the many schools in the area. There are 7 elementary schools (Public, French, and Separate), 3 junior high schools, and 5 high schools. Across the 16 Avenue NW and 10 Street NW intersection, students and other residents can also visit the SAIT Polytechnic and Alberta College of Art and Design.
