The desirable Elboya housing market was annexed to Calgary in 1910 as were many areas thanks to the economic boom of the time. It was not until 1947 that it was officially established after significant real estate development and construction converted it into a residential area. It was originally farm land and the original farm house for the land of Elboya remained standing, up until 10 years ago when it was finally removed.

Elboya is a small, unparalleled community with less than 800 homes. This in no way, however, reflects the quality of the homes for sale in the area. On the contrary, many of the homes are exclusive, sprawling homes that take full advantage of the wonderful views and riverfront location provided by Stanley Park and the Elbow River. With a population of less than 1,800, Elboya is a close-knit and welcoming community. More than 35% of the Elboya homes for sale are impressive condominium properties and apartments while many of the remaining properties are single-family two-storey homes and bungalows.

Public transportation in the form of bus routes service residents living here with regular and easy access to the rest of Calgary. The nearby Chinook Shopping Centre is also popular, offering plenty of retail stores, amenities and outlets to meet most shopping needs.

For home buyers who are outdoor enthusiasts, Elboya has plenty of walking and hiking trails that connect the community to the rest of Calgary. Stanley Park is a great place to go for a leisurely walk or a sports game. Enjoy the BBQ stands and then burn off the calories at the sports pitches and tennis courts.

The Elboya-Britannia Community Association offers a variety of volunteer and recreation activities.

Despite being one of Calgary’s smallest communities, parents purchasing a home here will be glad to hear that Elboya is well-serviced by schools. Elboya Bilingual Elementary School and Elboya Junior High School are within the area, while Western Canada Senior High is only a short walk away.
