The distinct housing market in the area now known as Elbow Park/Glencoe was annexed by Calgary in 1907 before being officially established in 1910. It is believed to have first been the home of a whiskey trading fort that even predates Fort Calgary. The informal name originally given to the area was “American Hill,” but this name slowly but surely gave way to the official name, “Elbow Park.”

Of the original homes built in Elbow Park and Glencoe, many are still standing with premier upgrades, and can be found along the banks of the Elbow River. While the majority of these have been renovated with modern advancements, they retain much of the elegant character that sets them apart from newer builds.

Most of the houses on the market are single-family detached homes and a large proportion of them have been renovated to bring them up to date with modern expectations. The demand for Elbow Park and Glencoe homes is always high and this in turn has driven up the quality of the homes. As such, much of the housing market consists of fantastic luxury homes that have few rivals throughout Calgary.

Elbow Park also offers a fantastic selection of shops, restaurants and other entertainment options. Anything that cannot be found in Elbow Park can be easily accessed with a short trip on readily-available public transport.

The whole community is well-serviced with a city pathway system that allows home owners to easily access the many amenities and recreational activities that Elbow Park has to offer. River Park and Stanley Park are both just a short walk away, and most of the public parks are connected by a series of walkways that wend their way across the city. Thanks to its beautiful homes and fantastic location, homes for sale in Elbow Park are constantly sought-after by those looking to settle down in a wonderful neighbourhood.
