Back in 1906, the Hounsfield Heights / Briar Hill real estate housing market was annexed by the city and in 1953 it officially became a neighbourhood. This area has a large amount of history packed within its boundaries. At one point in time it was part of the homestead belonging to the Riley family and it contained University Heights, St Andrew’s Heights and Hillhurst as well. This is where Thomas Riley, his wife and their children settled in 1888 and in 1906 the area was subdivided and annexed by Calgary.
