This is one of the oldest communities in Calgary. William Nimmons, from the Hudson’s Bay Company purchased Bankview back in 1882 and his sole reason for purchasing the area was for ranching and farming. During the economic boom that took place in 1902 there was a shortage of housing so Nimmons decided to go into real estate development in Bankview and he divided it into plots and sell them to new settlers. In 1908 the city purchased the rest of the land, which is when it was subdivided into the traditional grid system and Bankview officially became a community. Today, Bankview is a residential housing market that can be found in the southwest portion of Calgary. This community is southwest of the Inner City’s Beltline district and residents enjoy easy access to Crowchild Trail and the downtown district.

Back in 1950, the district went through some major changes when a couple of larger apartment walk-ups were added and various other renovations took place. Today, you will find that real estate here includes a mixture of single-family Bankview homes, condos, apartments and townhomes for sale along with some pricier “San Francisco-style” condominium properties.

The community is located close to the North Hill Centre, which will be your one-stop-shop when you buy your Bankview home. Bankview is all about offering its home owners a happier lifestyle.
